Charles Ellicott Commentary
"And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and make ready for us the passover, that we may eat." — Luke 22:8 (ASV)
He sent Peter and John.—St. Luke’s is the only Gospel that gives the names of the two disciples. They were together now, as they were afterwards in John 20:3; John 21:20; Acts 3:1. We may, perhaps, recognise the purpose of a loving insight in the act which thus brought the two disciples together at a time when our Lord foresaw how much one would need the love and sympathy of the other.
