Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"And he took it down, and wrapped it in a linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb that was hewn in stone, where never man had yet lain." — Luke 23:53 (ASV)
A sepulchre that was hewn in stone.—The descriptive word differs from that used by St. Matthew and St. Mark, as being slightly more technical, and implying a higher degree of finish.
