"And all the multitude sought to touch him; for power came forth from him, and healed [them] all." — Luke 6:19 (ASV)

There went virtue out of him.—The use of the term “virtue” (or power) in this technical sense is peculiar to Saint Luke, and may be noted as characteristic of the medical Evangelist. (Compare Introduction.)
