"And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus` feet, and besought him to come into his house;" — Luke 8:41 (ASV)

And, behold, there came a man named Jairus.—See Notes on Matthew 9:18-26 and Mark 5:21-43. Saint Luke’s narrative agrees with Saint Mark’s more closely than with Saint Matthew’s.
