Charles Ellicott Commentary
"And Simon and they that were with him followed after him;" — Mark 1:36 (ASV)
Simon and those who were with him.—This part of the narrative is also given by St. Luke, but not by St. Matthew. The definite statement of who they were who followed after Him is, however, peculiar to St. Mark; while St. Luke alone gives their motive: “they stayed Him that He should not depart from them.” They would gladly have kept Him at Capernaum, so that He might teach them and heal their sick. This is to some extent, perhaps, implied in the words “All men seek for Thee.”
