"And Jesus stood still, and said, Call ye him. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good cheer: rise, he calleth thee." — Mark 10:49 (ASV)
And commanded him to be called.—The better manuscripts give, more vividly, and said, Call him.
Be of good comfort.—The cheering words of the disciples or by-standers are given by Saint Mark only, as is also the eager action of the man casting off his garment (i.e., the outer mantle) and leaping up. The Greek word, in the better manuscripts, is much stronger than the English “rose.”
