"and to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbor as himself, is much more than all whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices." — Mark 12:33 (ASV)
Is more than all whole burnt offerings...—There is a fervor in the eloquence of the scribe’s answer which indicates the earnestness, almost the enthusiasm, of conviction. Such teaching as that of 1 Samuel 15:22, Psalms 50:8–14, Micah 6:6, had not been in vain for him.
