SCRIPTURE

"And straightway, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. Now he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that is he; take him, and lead him away safely. And when he was come, straightway he came to him, and saith, Rabbi; and kissed him." — Mark 14:43-45 (ASV)

And immediately, while he yet spake.—See Notes on Matthew 26:47-50. Note the reappearance of St. Mark’s characteristic “immediately.” Many of the better manuscripts add the distinguishing “Iscariot” to the name of Judas.

Take him.—Better, seize.

Master, master.—Better, Rabbi, Rabbi. All the manuscripts give the Hebrew word, and not its Greek equivalent.
