Charles Ellicott Commentary Mark 3:30

"because they said, He hath an unclean spirit." — Mark 3:30 (ASV)

Because they said.—This, it will be noted, is peculiar to Saint Mark. It is as though he intended to explain to his readers what it was that prompted such an awful warning. He does not absolutely identify what had been said with the sin against the Holy Spirit, but it tended to that sin, and therefore made the warning necessary.
