SCRIPTURE

"And when they received it, they murmured against the householder," — Matthew 20:11 (ASV)

They murmured — The Greek tense used here indicates that this was not a single complaint, but repeated and prolonged murmuring.

The goodman of the house — A better translation is householder. The Greek word is the same as in Matthew 20:1, and the archaic English phrase is an unnecessary variation.
