Charles Ellicott Commentary Matthew 20:7

"They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard." — Matthew 20:7 (ASV)

Because no man has hired us.—This, again, is one of the salient points of the parable. The last called laborers had not rejected any previous summons, and when called they obeyed with alacrity. They, too, came in full, unquestioning faith.
