Charles Ellicott Commentary
"And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was stirred, saying, Who is this?" — Matthew 21:10 (ASV)
All the city was moved — It was the beginning of the Paschal week, and the city was therefore filled with pilgrims from many lands. To them, this was a strange prelude to the usual order of the feast, and they asked what it meant. The answer fell short of the full meaning of the people’s shouts, but it expressed the aspect of Jesus’s character that was most understandable to strangers. He was “the Prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.”
