SCRIPTURE

"And those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was filled with guests." — Matthew 22:10 (ASV)

Both bad and good — The words imply two points, as in the parable of the Drag-net (Matthew 13:47–48):

  1. The offer of the gospel is universal, so that no one is shut out because of any previous sins.
  2. The assembly of guests gathered in this way corresponds to the visible Church of Christ, in which the evil are mingled with the good, awaiting the coming of the King “to see the guests.”

The wedding was furnished — Some of the most ancient manuscripts say “the bride-chamber was furnished,” but this looks like a gloss or an explanatory note.
