"Wherefore ye witness to yourselves, that ye are sons of them that slew the prophets." — Matthew 23:31 (ASV)

You are witnesses to yourselves—Their words were true, but in a different sense than they had intended. They were reproducing in their deeds the very characteristics of those fathers whom they condemned.
