Charles Ellicott Commentary
"And Jesus came to them and spake unto them, saying, All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth." — Matthew 28:18 (ASV)
All power is given to me —Literally, all authority was given. This tense is used to speak of something that occurred at a specific point in time. We can possibly connect it with Saint Paul’s use of the same tense in the Greek of Philippians 2:8. The exaltation came, and the authority was given, at the moment of the Resurrection and as the crown of His obedience to death.
