"that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying," — Matthew 4:14 (ASV)

For St. Matthew, the significance of the migration, as with other events, was that it fulfilled what a prophet had spoken. In this way, the residence in Nazareth fulfilled one prediction, and the move to Capernaum fulfilled another.
