Charles Ellicott Commentary Matthew 8:18

"Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandments to depart unto the other side." — Matthew 8:18 (ASV)

To depart to the other side — that is, the eastern shore of the Sea of Galilee. Here, too, though less conspicuously than in the other Gospels, a yearning for a time of rest and retirement is indicated.
