SCRIPTURE

"And as Jesus passed by from thence, two blind men followed him, crying out, and saying, Have mercy on us, thou son of David." — Matthew 9:27 (ASV)

Two blind men — The two narratives that follow are unique to Matthew. The title by which the blind men address our Lord, “the Son of David,” expressed the popular belief that He was the expected Christ. This title is also used by the Canaanite woman (Matthew 15:22) and again by the blind men at Jericho (Matthew 20:30–31; Mark 10:47; Luke 18:38–39).
