SCRIPTURE

"Thou also shalt be drunken; thou shalt be hid; thou also shalt seek a stronghold because of the enemy. All thy fortresses shall be [like] fig-trees with the first-ripe figs: if they be shaken, they fall into the mouth of the eater." — Nahum 3:11-12 (ASV)

Thou also shalt be drunken.—Nineveh also shall be drunken with the cup of God’s wrath , indeed, hid from recollection, so that men shall ask, “Where is Nineveh?” . She, too, shall vainly seek a fortress (Authorized Version: “strength”) to give her shelter, all her own strongholds having fallen as easily as the ripe fruit from the fig tree.
