Charles Ellicott Commentary Nehemiah 6:11

"And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being such as I, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in." — Nehemiah 6:11 (ASV)

Should such a man as I flee? — First, the expression of personal dignity. Then of fear: Who, being as I am (a layman), would go into the Temple to save his life? Rather, and live? (Numbers 18:7).
