Charles Ellicott Commentary Proverbs 10:17

"He is in the way of life that heedeth correction; But he that forsaketh reproof erreth." — Proverbs 10:17 (ASV)

Erreth. —Literally, commits error. This is probably the true sense, and harmonizes better with being “in the way of life,” which occurs just before, than the marginal rendering, “causeth to err.” The word occurs in a similar sense in Jeremiah 42:20 (there translated, ye have dissembled).
