Charles Ellicott Commentary Proverbs 12:8

"A man shall be commended according to his wisdom; But he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised." — Proverbs 12:8 (ASV)

According to his wisdom — that is, intelligent observance of the ends to be pursued in life, and the best means of attaining them; in other words, finding out the will of God and how to fulfill it.

Shall be despised. Compare 1 Samuel 2:30.
