Charles Ellicott Commentary Proverbs 15:33

"The fear of Jehovah is the instruction of wisdom; And before honor [goeth] humility." — Proverbs 15:33 (ASV)

The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom. —Or, a discipline which leads to wisdom. (Compare to Proverbs 1:7.)

Before honour is humility.— Humility leads to it. (Compare to Luke 1:52.)
