Charles Ellicott Commentary Proverbs 16:33

"The lot is cast into the lap; But the whole disposing thereof is of Jehovah." — Proverbs 16:33 (ASV)

The lot is cast into the lap ...— In other words, much that we attribute to chance is due to the providence of God. (Compare to Matthew 10:29-30.) This should be an encouragement to trust in Him.
