Charles Ellicott Commentary Proverbs 23:8

"The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, And lose thy sweet words." — Proverbs 23:8 (ASV)

Shalt thou vomit up. —You will be disgusted at having partaken of hospitality which was not freely offered to you.

And lose thy sweet words.— All your civil speeches and thanks for the cold welcome you have had.
