SCRIPTURE

"For better is it that it be said unto thee, Come up hither, Than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince, Whom thine eyes have seen." — Proverbs 25:7 (ASV)

In the presence of the prince whom your eyes have seen, and whose place you have shamelessly taken. The same lesson was repeated by our Lord in Luke 14:10 and following, and enforced on the ground of His own example (Matthew 20:25 and following).
