SCRIPTURE

"A lying tongue hateth those whom it hath wounded; And a flattering mouth worketh ruin." — Proverbs 26:28 (ASV)

A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it—as their remembrance calls up his own wickedness to the mind of the offender. This is one reason why the carnal mind is enmity against God (Romans 8:7), as it is conscious of having rejected God’s love, and so hates to be reminded of Him.
