Charles Ellicott Commentary Proverbs 27:8

"As a bird that wandereth from her nest, So is a man that wandereth from his place." — Proverbs 27:8 (ASV)

A man who wanders from his place.— That wanders forth as an exile who has lost his home. Compare Genesis 12:4, and, on the contrary, Job’s hope that he would “die in his nest” (Proverbs 29:18). For the spiritual sense, compare Luke 15:13 and following.
