SCRIPTURE

"He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool; But whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered." — Proverbs 28:26 (ASV)

He who trusts in his own heart is confident in his own wisdom (compare to 1 Corinthians 3:18 and following); he will perish in his folly.

But whoever walks wisely. —Literally, in wisdom, which begins with the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 9:10), shall be delivered from the trouble into which the fool is brought by his self-confidence.
