"The lizard taketh hold with her hands, Yet is she in kings` palaces." — Proverbs 30:28 (ASV)

The spider taketh hold with her hands. The lizard, rather than the spider, seems to be here intended. As each first line of these four verses is an expression of weakness, it has been proposed to translate it as follows: “The lizard you can catch with the hands, and yet,” etc. (Compare Ecclesiastes 9:14 and following for this praise of wisdom.)
