"If thou art wise, thou art wise for thyself; And if thou scoffest, thou alone shalt bear it." — Proverbs 9:12 (ASV)

Thou shalt be wise for thyself—that is, to your own benefit. (Compare to 1 Corinthians 3:8).

Thou alone shalt bear it—that is, its penalty. .
