"They mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the depths: Their soul melteth away because of trouble." — Psalms 107:26 (ASV)
They mount up. —
“Tollimur in cœlum curvato gurgite, et idem
Subducta ad Manes imos desedimus unda.”
Virgil, Aeneid 3.564.
Their soul is melted. —The recollection of seasickness is the best comment on this and the next verse.
