"Thy word is very pure; Therefore thy servant loveth it." — Psalms 119:140 (ASV)

Pure. —More literally, purged by trial. Septuagint and Vulgate, “fired.” It is not only the excellence, but the proved excellence, of the Divine Word, which is the object of love and adoration here.
