"The sum of thy word is truth; And every one of thy righteous ordinances [endureth] for ever. SHIN." — Psalms 119:160 (ASV)

Beginning. —Hebrew, head; but here, as in Psalms 139:17, it might be rendered sum. (Compare to Proverbs 1:7.) The translation “from the beginning,” of the Authorised Version must certainly be abandoned.
