Charles Ellicott Commentary Psalms 119:22

"Take away from me reproach and contempt; For I have kept thy testimonies." — Psalms 119:22 (ASV)

Remove. —Some translate this as “roll,” with allusion to Joshua 5:9. But it is more probably the same word as that translated “open” in Psalms 119:18 (see Note), which may have as its object the covering taken off (Isaiah 22:8; Nahum 3:5), or the thing from which the covering is taken, as in Psalms 119:18.
