Charles Ellicott Commentary Psalms 119:38

"Confirm unto thy servant thy word, Which [is in order] unto the fear of thee." — Psalms 119:38 (ASV)

Who is devoted to thy fear. —This is an improbable explanation of this elliptical expression. There are two renderings, each in accordance with the general drift of the psalm:

1. Establish to Your servant Your word, which leads to fear of You;
2. or, more likely, Establish to Your servant Your promise which is to those who fear You, as apparently the Septuagint.
