Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"The proud have forged a lie against me: With my whole heart will I keep thy precepts." — Psalms 119:69 (ASV)
Have forged. —Rather, patched. The verb occurs twice elsewhere (Job 13:4; Job 14:17). Gesenius compares the Greek, δόλον ἐάπτειν, and the Latin, suere dolos. Compare also:
“You praise yourself by laying defects of judgment to me;
but you patched up your excuses.”
Antony and Cleopatra:Acts 2, Scene 2.
