"For my brethren and companions` sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee." — Psalms 122:8 (ASV)

Peace be within thee. —Here the formal greeting actually appears, that which greets every traveler in the East (John 20:19). (Compare to Luke 10:5.) The full form appears in 1 Samuel 25:6.
