SCRIPTURE

"Thou wilt show me the path of life: In thy presence is fulness of joy; In thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore." — Psalms 16:11 (ASV)

There are. —The italics in the Authorized Version spoil the triplet:—

You will show me the path of life,
In your presence fullness of joy,
At your right hand pleasures forevermore.

It is another image for the same thought that dominates the psalm—the thought of the happiness of being with God. The fair heritage, the serene happiness, and the enduring pleasure always to be found at God’s right hand are all different ways of expressing the same sense of complete satisfaction and peace. This peace is given by a deep religious trust, touched ever so faintly by a ray of a larger hope that is beginning to triumph over death itself.
