Charles Ellicott Commentary
"Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins]; Let them not have dominion over me: Then shall I be upright, And I shall be clear from great transgression." — Psalms 19:13 (ASV)
Presumptuous sin. — The Hebrew term, derived from a root meaning “boil up” or “over,” is properly masculine, and always elsewhere means proud or arrogant men. (So Symmachus and Aquila.) Therefore, it is explained here as: “Keep your servant from the companionship of arrogant men, so that they may not gain dominion over me and lead me away from your Law.”
The great transgression. — Rather, a great transgression, though even without the article it is possible the particular sin of idolatry is intended.
