SCRIPTURE

"Come, behold the works of Jehovah, What desolations he hath made in the earth." — Psalms 46:8 (ASV)

The Lord. — Many manuscripts read Elohîm instead of “Jehovah.”

Desolations ... — This refers to either silence of desolation, with “silence” being the primary sense of the word, or wonders, which silence by their suddenness and marvel. So the Septuagint and Vulgate render it, and this is confirmed by Psalms 46:10.
