Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"Thou givest thy mouth to evil, And thy tongue frameth deceit." — Psalms 50:19 (ASV)
Gives. —Literally, lets loose.
Frames. —Literally, weaves. So the Septuagint. To weave snares is a common figure in all languages. Compare:
“My brain, more busy than the labouring spider,
Weaves tedious snares to trap my enemies.”
Shakespeare: 2 Henry VI., 3:2.
