"Thou hast made his brightness to cease, And cast his throne down to the ground." — Psalms 89:44 (ASV)

Thou hast ... —Literally, You have made to cease from his brightness — that is, the brightness of the sun, promised in Psalm 89:36.

To the ground. —From being like the sun in heaven.
