Charles Ellicott Commentary Revelation 2:23

"And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he that searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto each one of you according to your works." — Revelation 2:23 (ASV)

Her children.—This is to be understood to mean her followers. The so-called prophetess led the way in looseness of morals, under the pretense of some deeper knowledge. She had her associates and their disciples; the evil and the evil consequences would grow; the disciples outrun their teachers, and more than tribulation—death—is their penalty.
