"[saying], Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, And whose sins are covered." — Romans 4:7 (ASV)

Forgiven.—The stress is upon this word; “whose sins are not abolished, but forgiven; not annihilated, but covered up, removed from sight, hidden by the absolving grace of God.”
