"What fruit then had ye at that time in the things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death." — Romans 6:21 (ASV)

For.—(You had no fruit) for, and so on. Some put the question at “then”: “What fruit had you therefore (omitted in the Authorised version) at that time? Things of which you are now ashamed; for their end is death.” But the construction of the Authorised version is probably best.
