"for he that hath died is justified from sin." — Romans 6:7 (ASV)
Is freed.—“Absolved,” the same word that is used elsewhere for “justified.” The dead man is no longer liable to have the charge of sin brought against him. This is the general proposition, the major premise, presented as proof of what has been said before—namely, the particular proposition that the one who is ethically dead is no longer the slave of sin.
