Charles Ellicott Commentary

Charles Ellicott Commentary
"For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, For this very purpose did I raise thee up, that I might show in thee my power, and that my name might be published abroad in all the earth." — Romans 9:17 (ASV)
The converse proposition is also true, that God also uses the wickedness of men as a means of exhibiting His power and justice.
Raised thee up.—Brought into the world and on to the scene of history.
Show my power.—By the plagues of Egypt and by the overthrow of Pharaoh and his host in the Red Sea.
