Charles Ellicott Commentary
"For, lo, the winter is past; The rain is over and gone;" — Song Of Solomon 2:11 (ASV)
Winter.—Hebrew, sethav, used only here; probably from a root meaning to overcast: the season of cloud and gloom.
The rain is over and gone.—Wordsworth uses this line in a description of an early spring in a very different climate.
