Charles Ellicott Commentary
"His head is [as] the most fine gold; His locks are bushy, [and] black as a raven." — Song Of Solomon 5:11 (ASV)
Bushy. —Margin: curled; Hebrew: taltallîm= flowing in curls, or heaped up, that is, thick, bushy, depending on its derivation from talah or tel. The Septuagint (followed by the Vulgate) interpret taltallîm as another form of zalzallîm (Isaiah 18:5, sprigs of the vine), and translate it as palm-leaves.
